Button Bracelets and Cuffs

This is a fun, unconventional accessory, a soft fabric alternative to a bracelet. It could dress up an everyday outfit or add some bling and color to a Steampunk costume.

 

This cuff is like a cuff of a shirt, but it's not attached to a sleeve! Wear it like you would a cuff, but with a sleeveless or short-sleeved shirt, in place of a bracelet. Show off the decorative button with an attractive splash of color.

Dress-Up Flower Bracelet

My cousin's little girl loves to dress up so I got her a pretty skirt and some dress-up accessories for Christmas. I came up with this little flower bracelet...

Materials:
- fabric flower (from a bag of flower remnants)
- pearl button
- pink ribbon (leftover from that Damask Drawstring Bag)
- a scrap of elastic

First, stick the back of the pearl button through the center hole in the flower (flowers that come on stems will have a center hole through the petals).

Then sew the button to the center of the piece of ribbon. The ribbon length should be the same as a wrist's circumference.

Sew the elastic to both ends of the ribbon, forming a circle. This will let the child slip the flower bracelet on and off their wrist.

Note: the pearl button could be a choking hazard for little ones. This is not recommended for kids that like to eat their toys. Adult supervision recommended.

Rose Vine Garden Bracelet

I drew out a necklace design with curves and drops but couldn't figure out how to do it.  Wait wait, I figured it out (well a book showed me); Tigerwire and crimp beads. This one has crimp covers to make it a little prettier. 

Continuing on I tried mixing in these cute paper flowers.  My boyfriend thought it was a little too much to make it into a necklace since it was too long in height but it still looked pretty nice as a bracelet.

The Paper Mulberry Flowers I found at the craft store came in sets of 3 shades.  I thought the gradient gives it such a uniqueness.
