Baby Teemo

It's Teemo!

I made this costume for my daughter for Halloween. Babies need comfortable costumes so I translated Teemo's outfit into just a simple hat, beard, and booties.

For the hat I had an adult version I bought from Riot, so I used it as a visual guide to make a baby version out of fleece and flannel.

I added a Velcro chin strap to the hat because babies need one to keep their hat on.

Here she is with her hat!

For the chin beard fur thing I made a bib!

Here are the finished costume pieces!

Soooooo cute!

2012 SteamCon Hats

For a SteamPunk outfit, it is not necessary to have cogs or goggles to make it SteamPunk , in fact some times it isn't even logical (but sometimes it's alright to not be logical).  But what is required of a SteamPunk outfit is a HAT, or some sort of head fascinator.

So this year at SteamCon I wanted to take a look at the hats that people wore.  FIY this year's SteamCon theme was Victorian Monsters, probably because it was during Halloween weekend,

Top Hats
This hat is BIG

Her hat is covered with bridal tulle with colours that match her bright outfit

She's cookie monster (and she carried around cookies to give to people)

Top hat made of metal, with a Roses, and a working Clock

Creatures

A hunter is wearing her catch

Just a cute Lolita Fawn

Another young deer.

Fancy Gothic Elfling

Monster and Witches

Ok she doesn't have a hat, but her hair is just fascinating.  I guess I've seen and made CyberLoxs before, but because of the matching outfit, this really pops.

Spiky Helmet

Dark Witch

Who is she?  I looks familiar, kinda looks like a Witch from Madoka, but it's got to be something

Professions
Pilot

Garrison, didn't know her persona

A hood counts as a hat right?  I just love how this looks.  She could be wandering the desserts and shielding herself from the sand storms.

General

hand altered high society Hat

High Society Lady

Safari Hat

House of Wormwood
An artist who's hats seemed to pop up around the con.  Looking at her pieces
I can tell why they are so popular

Ethic

She covers her head with a jeweled scarf.

Itty Bitty Steampunk Hats

Usually SmallRiniLady is the one who makes mini top hats, but I decided it was about time I tried making some. I even have a white wig to display it on, I'm totally copying her. Bwahahaha...

This brown vinyl hat was my first attempt. I added a red silk sash so it could go with my Steampunk Supergirl costume. Then I decided not to use it because it's brown.

This is my latest attempt, a much shorter hat. It's still not as sharp as I would like but I think the charcoal velvet with the white lace is pretty.

The hardest part about making these hats is figuring out how to make them stay on your head!

I think I'll leave the wee chapeaus to SmallRiniLady...

MiniComi 2011

I"M SOOO SORRY for those who I promised to blog about this ages ago.

In Summer 2011 I did my first show.  Mini Comi was a one day event where artist could get together to sell their anime related work at Univeristy of British Columbia in Vancouver, a mimic of Comiket in Tokyo Japan

I wanted to make a Wai Lolita outfit, which is a cross between a Lolita and Kimono.  Of course my hair is crazy covered with a Lolita Headband and Cyberloxs as I was displaying the work I was sell.

Me, Hannah (Myth), and Evelyn Wong set up a booth together and called ourselfves the "Sample Wives"  Just a random name that we thought was rather funny

Here's Hannah wearing some of her wings she was selling and eating a rice bowl for lunch.

an interesting take on Panty and Stocking Cosplay (actually probebly my favorite cosplay that day)

These two girls were holding the booth behind us.  They bought lolita headdresses from me.

P-Chan from Ramna 1/2, she is way cute

Did an art trade with the girl in the booth next to me.  We were both bored and it's a fun way to make a new friend.  I drew her a picture with my Hina style.  She had trouble drawing my hair cause it had too much stuff in it

Evelyn is wearing two pairs of Hannahs wings and they fell down.  But I thought it actually looks like a cool fallen angel look.

2012 SakuraCon (Pre) Art Show

Just like Ava who was preparing for Emerald City Comic Con last week, this week is my turn to be gearing up for SakuraCon, the Northwest Anime Con.  ~YAY~  This is my cosplay event of the year.

Just like last year I have reserved spaces in the Art Show, which is a auction for art pieces, and portions of the profits go to charity.

I know I know, it's not anime or video games, or even japanese related, but they are soooo cute! and it is chibi.

I believe I haven't posted about these on CraftersInDisguise yet.  As some of you know I'm a fat of mini top hats (well mini hats in general) and after the success of my Moogle Top Hat I've wanted to create many other characters into top hats.

Instead of making new fabric top hats in Yellow and Miku turquoise I'm going to use foam clay to make them.  Here I've got two Pokemon and a Vocaloid.  I'll have many hats on display; some will be on alice headbands, some will be attached with ribbons; and some can be worn with hair barrettes
(I promise to blog more about these in the future)

  • Pokemon Oddish
  • Pokemon Pikachu
  • Vocaloid Miku
  • InuYasha Character Kilala
  • Xxxholic Mokona
  • Naruto
  • Pokemon Snubbull
  • Pokemon Clefairy
  • Pokemon JigglyPuff
  • Pokemon Meowth
  • Pokemon Psyduck
  • Pokemon Jolteon
yea I notice it's a lot of Pokemon, but it's the easiest to come up with that would be sellable due to the popularity of pokemon fleece hats.

As you can see I have made Prints of my Kokeshi Anime characters.

I did a whole set of them
  • Ourna Host Club
  • Kuroshitsuji
  • sailor moon
  • tsubasa (clamp)
  • code geass
  • final fantasy
  • naruto
  • hetalia
  • inu yasha
  • vocaloid
  • tiger and bunny
  • card captor sakura
  • Panty and Stocking
  • Xxxohlic

I know that the blog is online for the whole world.  But for anyone in Seattle who is going to SakuraCon, please check out the Art Show and see my pieces :)

Party Hats

My aunt had a great idea for something to do on New Year's Eve while we were waiting for the clock to strike midnight. She brought out scissors, glue, cardboard and leftover Christmas wrapping paper, and we all went to town making...
PARTY HATS!

OK yeah I went a little overboard and ended up making a boater hat and a mini top hat.
My sister modeled my hat for me. She is actually a professional actress, model and photographer in NY.

Tiny top hat!

Chewbacca approves.

Mini Pan Am

So recently I posted about some Pan Am hats I've been making lately http://craftersindisguise.blogspot.com/2011/10/pan-am-flight-stewardess-hat.html, but remember.  I have a thing for miniatures.

~giggle so guess what I did!

I made a miniature version of the Pan Am hat.  And it's worn with an hair elastic,  giggle, ok so I use elastics for pants, but whatever it gets the job done.
